Response Time as a Function of Network and Server Congestion   Related Topics

Response time is related to the number of other jobs running on the network and the number of other jobs running on the host computer. The busier the system, the more time it takes to get your job there and back.

Appearances can be deceiving. Since AWC runs many jobs automatically during nonbusiness hours, you don’t necessarily have to see users logged on or sitting at their desks for the system to be busy.

Any steps you can take to delete and archive files on shared resources (like the S:\ drive) will have big pay-offs in response time because the automated processes will run faster with fewer files.
